Searcher asked: I’ve just heard of a family in Florida that has a young girl who is special needs. Their family cannot afford a bike and the person who told me about this just lost his job. The young girl’s bike was recently destroyed and he would like to give her a new bike to replace the other bike.
I’m wondering if there are any community service groups in Florida that can be contacted regarding this child? I’m not sure where this family lives, but I’d like to see if this family can be helped with a new bike.
Thank you.

Teetoe asked: OK, so me and my friend are wanting to fill shoeboxes full of stuff for families in Africa, but we don’t know where to send it. We kind of want to send it to an….individual family, if that makes sense…like, we want to address it to one certain family.
So our question is, is there any way to find the names of families currently living in Africa and be able to send packages to them? If there is, can you please post a link for it? Thank you so much!

nawab100 asked: I want to help a Pakistani family and provide them with shelter since their house was damaged in the earthquake of October 2005. I have the money and want to know if there is some company which will construct the house on a turn-key basis. The family is located close to Bagh in Northern Pakistan. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Time is of the essence because construction can only happen for another two months after which the monsoon season will set in and construction will stop.

Further to Jesse’s suggestion, I have already tried some relief organizations and they only provide housing in bulk to pre-arranged areas, not on individual basis.

The Quickened One asked: My husband and I live very far from any family and every year we spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with just our small children. As this is nice and special, we both wish to make this year and possibly the the future years memorable ones and do something meaningful.
Since our kids are small, we know that this will pose a roadblock to certain things.
But we wish to start volunteering our Thanksgiving and/or Christmas Eve nights to a shelter, hospice or nursing home.
Anyways, any other suggestions?
God bless

anoldmick asked: We live in a dangerous world and being unprepared costs many lives and untold dollar amounts yearly. There is much the individual can do other than depend on the oft-times undependable government - remember the non-response following Hurricane Katrina? What do you suppose YOU can do to help your family and your community best prepare for a disaster of any sort?

Bakunin asked: My church has been asked to help the family of an undocumented alien. The man is a good worker, married with 2 small daughters, but unable to find adequate work to sustain his family. The family has next to no English speaking skills. We’d like to help him find work, to get food for the family and clothing, not to mention pay rent, etc. What resources exist out there that can provide assistance to undocumented aliens (without forcing them to give up their dignity, not branding them as criminals, as our government would do)?
