so does a pilot gets to spend time with his family often?

Woot asked:

I thought they rarely get to see their family, but I I heard an average pilot flies for 75 hours a month…

Pretty ironic, 75hrs is not much, so I’m assuming they see their family quite a lot?

If you are a pilot, how often do you see your family and for how long do you stay with them?

the common belief is such but not exactly true many pilots have to fly odd hours and holidays but on average pilots only fly about 75 hrs. a month the rest at home.

it depends on what kind of pilot you’re talking about.. i’m a cargo pilot for a small company.. i’m always home.. my company rarely puts me up in a hotel.. airline pilots are different.. they take trips that can keep them away from home for 2 weeks at a time..

75 hours is quite a bit of flying if you think about it.. that number is strictly flight time.. it doesn’t include the time spent on the ground at other airports, flight planning, loading and unloading, paperwork, delays, and all the other stuff.. i usually figure that for every flight hour, there is one hour of ground time spent doing things to prepare for a flight.. that equates to a 150 hours a month average compared to a normal 9-5 job which is 160 hours a month..

it all depends on what type of plane your flying

like a privet jet like the one to take certain people to places when they need to go

witch is not vary often maybe 2-8 times a week

    but that’s all i know

    hope it helps

I see my family very often, but I don’t fly overseas. I average about 25 hours a month.
