What are you doing to prepare your family and community for disaster, natural or man-made including terrorism?

We live in a dangerous world and being unprepared costs many lives and untold dollar amounts yearly. There is much the individual can do other than depend on the oft-times undependable government - remember the non-response following Hurricane Katrina? What do you suppose YOU can do to help your family and your community best prepare for a disaster of any sort?

I live in Los Angeles where the Big One could hit at any time - not to mention being a terrorism target. I bought my Earthquake Kit here:

They have a bunch of other kits available too:

including Avian Flu kits, & cold weather kits.

I am not so afraid of disaster and death; because whatever way we prepare, death will not wait. I am praying to god to give humans a humorous mind so that they can work for the betterment of the humanity and other species of the earth.

Rob a bank so I’ll have money to take care of my family in case the government cranks up their weather altering machine to create another natural disaster. Terrorism? Who puts terror in your mind? Certainly not the Muslim community. Terrorism is a lie and scare tactic they use on mass conglomerate media, owned and operated by the powers that be. Throw your tv out the window, tune into air america radio. look it up online. Terrorism, what a joke!Anyone in NYC could tell you those buildings were detonated. Guess who was running the security for those buildings? Bush’s Brother’s security co. Get a grip!

Go to FEMA.Gov, they have info on how to prepare for disasters. Funny you should mention about the government. Truth is the government will say straight out, you are on your own for at least 72 hours and have come up with CERT. I would also look into your local community and see if they have CERT teams. These are neighborhood volunteers trained to provide basic emergency services for the first few hours of a disaster in their local neighborhood (in the 50’s they were called civil defense volunteers). If not, and you are looking to help you community, you ought to look at starting a CERT program.
