Try putting the money into a cheap item from a garage sale or dollar store. Coffee mug, tea pot, etc. - A book on financial planning (you can hollow it out to make a place for money if you know they will never read the book.) - If you happen upon a used book with a library card slot in it, you could put a gift card there. - Instead of paper money, give them a small treasure chest full of gold dollar coins. - Buy them gold or silver, that they could cash in right away or keep as an investment. - Wallet - Piggy Bank - Money Clip - Coin Purse - Cash, gift cards, and gift certificates make good presents when the recipient doesn't have much money to spend on himself. Someone who can never afford to go out to dinner would really appreciate a gift certificate to his favorite restaurant. If the recipient makes good money, those things seem a little impersonal.
